Links, links, everybody's got a page of links. Here's mine.
My regular erotica website, the Maureen Lycaon Velan Archive of Erotica. Much more of my work, involving mostly original characters, is there in plaintext format.
Tolkien fanction:
- Tyellas' Ansereg site. Named after her own AU concept of how Elves practice BDSM, a ritual of endurance, which features in a lot of her fiction.
- Dwimordene, the premiere chronicler of the unknown parts of Aragorn's life has stuff at the Henneth Annun Story Archive (below). She has at least one wonderfully angsty, classic brotherslash tale, "From The Other River Bank" (no actual sex, just one kiss).
- Don't be fooled by the mundane title of A. Vulgarweed's Mithril Award-winning "The Ring and the Crown", a tale of the origin of the greatest of the Nazgul, the Witch-King. It's a dark, strange, rich brew, told in a dreamy, fantastical style, that contains human sacrifice, black magic, shamanistic visions and experiences, Sauron as Wolf-Lord, and an odd, primitive sort of BDSM (Vulgarweed calls it "primal" in her author's notes).
- The excessively controversial Mithril Awards.
- And, of course, the Henneth Annun Story Archive, devoted to high-quality Tolkien fiction. Its quality control keeps out the shitty Mary Sues and Whiny!Legolas rapefics that swamp Tolkien fandom elsewhere. But a public service warning: I don't recommend signing up with the Henneth_Annun mailing list. It's thoroughly wanky and stopped being a good place to discuss fanfic years ago.
Other fanfiction (mostly slash)
- The astonishing Sleeps With Coyotes is responsible for some of the finest dark slashfiction ever written. She has an incredible ability to take the darkest, most psychotic acts and madness you can conceive, put you behind the character's eyes and make you see the beauty in it that he does. Exhibit A: "That Which Suits A Part Infects the Whole", a Highlander vignette of a horribly insane Methos in the aftermath of a battle, with writing that makes me weep with envy. I also recommend the amusing tale of future fanfic writers, "If Gibson Was A Prophet" and the sicko but screamingly funny crossover, "Grudge Match". I'm not really sure I want to recommend "Fear", because it is quite possibly the deadliest, most horrifying piece of darkfic ever written; it would be too much even for many hardened lovers of rape and torturefic . . . at any rate, read the warnings before you decide to brave it.
- CM Decarnin's Highlander slash story, "And Hades Followed Him" -- for all its technical flaws (and it does have many), a truly classic piece of darkfic with a semi-happy ending.
Original fiction
- Manya Starr is an up-and-coming torturefic writer for whom I beta. Only one story up so far, The Torture Slave, but she roleplays Hali Game with me on her Planet Hali forum.
- Dusk Peterson's site. She does wonderful prisonerfic and sometimes torturefic, usually with only a little slash or none at all, but with questions of sadism, guilt and redemption being a common theme. The Eternal Dungeon series is a true classic.
- Poison Pen's Deadly Ink Blots. Sadly, these days Andrew Nellis mostly writes growing/shrinking stories -- and this site hasn't been updated in some years. But there's some bizarre and intriguing stuff here, much of it involving the Cthulhu Mythos. I particularly recommend: The Saga of Hilde, Dark Man, Dark Knight (no sex, but a wonderful crossover), and one of the best and funniest lampoonings of porn spammers ever written, The Horror of Spam. (I don't personally care for The Examination, but some of you will.)
Slash art
- The Theban Band -- some very nice stuff here.
- Jommy's LiveJournal is still up, but it hasn't been updated since last year, and her website appears to be gone entirely. Does anybody know what's happened to her?
